Lacrosse: A Family Sport.

We packed up and shipped out for Eden's last home lacrosse game the other night. Everyone went. They lost, but she still rocks. We're hearing rumors about an All-State mention.

I complained to Tracy tonight that no one ever comments on my blog.
She responded by pointing out the following:

... I rarely post anything.
... When I do post, I typically post drawings... of birds.
... I've told almost no one about the blog.

Man, she just makes no sense sometimes...

The Prominator

Eden went to Prom last Saturday night. I snapped the usual pictures... I really need to find some new spots in the house. Always in front of the windows for extra light (I hate flash), always trying to crop out whatever room we've not quite straightened up.

Went with a fairly nice kid by the name of Eli. She had a good time I think. Although he did show up with a black eye (pictured). And the pre-dance activity was paintball. Meh... She came home happy.

It's been a relatively unpleasant couple of weeks. I'll spare you all of the details except for the latest little gem. As a result of a recent refi appraisal, Tracy and I discovered today that our house is actually about a third smaller than we thought it was when we bought it. Sigh...

Just messing around with skin tones and stuff. And color... I have all of these paints that I'm inexplicably averse to mixing on one drawing. It's also important to note that I'm not typically as depressed as my subjects appear.

Recently...

Eden (blue dress) went to Junior Prom.
Hailey (red shirt) made the the blue dress.


Eden went skiing for the first time.
And yes, we have been living in Utah for almost 10 years.

Eden's lacrosse team won it's first game in three seasons.

Evan couldn't bear to watch.

Tracy, my mom and my sisters took a "girls trip" to Vegas.
Shops were shopped. Smokes were smoked. Gelato was discovered.

Tracy finally married the man of her dreams.
(I can't hold a candle to this guy, seriously)

Eden (green couch) turned 17.

I started and (mostly stopped) drawing again.

Well, that's it for now. But at least it's progress... right?
I hereby promise to underwhelm more often.

CUPCAKE$!

There's apparently some sort of economic crisis brewing out there. While it probably should have, this fact had no effect on our recent decision to make cupcakes.

February 15. Our sugar-centric spending spree begins with the purchase of a "designer cupcake kit" distributed by Chronicle Books. Never mind asking what connection a publisher has to with home baking, the better question revolves around why otherwise intelligent adults would pay over 20 dollars for a box of paper cups. We then drove to Orson Gygi (some 40 blocks) for frosting tips and sprinkles. Just try and argue with the logic. Cost: about $15. And lastly... we swung by the grocery store on the way home for cake mixes (red velvet is GO!), frosting and cherries. Another ten bucks.

Tracy, Hailey, Evan and I decorated the batch you see here. (Can't remember where Eden was).

While some turned out nicer than others (ahem), they all tasted less garish than they look. Was it worth the almost $50? Probably not. Amusing enough to do again? Stay tuned.

Guitar Hero

Evan "starred" in his fourth TV commercial recently. A low budget, but modestly charming spot for a local furniture company. The entire thing was shot with still photos and then animated to look something like a flip book. (When I have the file handy, I'll post the actual video.) I was proud that he let loose like this. He's a funny kid, but usually a little shy around new faces. His favorite part? Being paid in pizza and doughnuts. Clearly, he inherited this keen sense of economics from me.

Had all four wisdom teeth pulled.
Is always sewing something.
Misses her friends.
